Here’s what to expect from Apple’s anticipated M4 MacBook Air debut this week.

M4 MacBook

Apple will fully switch the MacBook to the M4 processor with the launch.

According to reports, Apple plans to release the M4 MacBook Air “as early as this week,” and an announcement about Macs is expected in the “next few days.” The chronology is accurate because the M3 MacBook Air also made its debut around the same time last year, namely on March 4. With the launch, Apple will fully switch the MacBook to the M4 processor, removing the latest Apple silicon from all except the Mac Studio and Mac Pro desktop PCs.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that Apple is “preparing its marketing, sales, and retail teams for the debut” of the 13- and 15-inch M4 MacBook Air, while the M3 MacBook Air inventory has “significantly wound down.” Shortly after the M3 model was released, Apple reduced the price of the M2 MacBook Air. Following the release of the M4 MacBook Air, we should anticipate something like. It’s unclear if Apple will keep selling the M2 model and whether it would lower its price much further to make it even more affordable. We’ll have to wait and see how things work out, but it’s probable that that would be the case.

Based on Apple’s history, we may anticipate significant enhancements in the form of enhanced performance and potentially longer battery life, with just minor design and display modifications. According to Apple, the M3 MacBook Air performed 60% quicker than the M1 variant. The 13-inch MacBook Air basic model had a 256GB SSD, 8GB of unified memory, an 8-core CPU, and an 8-core GPU. While the remainder of the MacBook Air M3 remained the same, the basic model included a more potent 10-core GPU.

At the very least, the M4 MacBook Air should have a configuration that is quite close to that of the base M4 MacBook Pro. In this scenario, it may have a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPUs, but obviously without the cooling fan because it is a “Air.” Additionally, a smaller overall footprint and fewer ports are to be expected. Finally, like the M4 MacBook Pro, it should be able to accommodate two external monitors while the lid is open. Prices need to be the same as they were the previous year. Stay tuned for further developments.
