Eknath Shinde said, “Who is Aurangzeb?,” raising doubts about the need to preserve his tomb. Why should our state permit his exaltation? He is a disgrace to our past.
In a scathing jab at the opposition over the Aurangzeb monument controversy, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde questioned why the Mughal emperor should be exalted, using the US burial of Osama bin Laden as an example. Even the United States made sure that Osama bin Laden was not buried on their territory after he was killed. To avoid any glorification, they threw him into the water,” Shinde stated before the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
